Day Whatever.

Well here I am again so you know I'm not at any machine doing what I should be doing. It hasn't been a good 'sewing' day. Mitered borders on a quilt made for an auction are just giving me hissy fits so I left. Tomorrow will be better! Maybe it's the wonderful aromas wafting from the kitchen all due to Melissa's willing hands. Mel is my step-daughter who is here pre-testing for CRNA certification...but most importantly she's a good cook. I think it's spaghetti and brownies I'm sniffing. Anyway, my quilting has ground to a halt. Need a shot of inspiration, excitation..maybe some sunshine!

Day Two.

Somehow was hit with creative need late in the nite so finished the quilt, 'SNAILS IN THE FAST LANE'. It dawned on me that even though or just because this was a quilt made of very traditional fabrics that I had a batik in the cupboard that might make an exquisite outer border. This wasn't a quilt I had enjoyed piecing and I had wanted to get it done and out of my sight. Now I think with this border addition it came alive and may be one of my favorites. But I was up until almost 4 AM getting it done. Why can't inspiration show itself at noon?

Day One: Not at all sure what I'm doing here but whatever...I'm doing it.

I'm trying in my own confused way to create a viable business here in Small Town, OH. I want to quilt quilts for other people. This is not 'piecing' but the actual quilting process done on a longarm machine. Yes, I do make them too but the business would be the quilting part of it. It's an art form and requires constant practice. As of yet I'm not good enough to do 'show' quilts but I'm adept enough for those to be used as gifts and every day snugglies or bed covers. I simply love it.

Right now I'm doing an art quilt for my friend Tracy. She made this gorgeous quilt for her husband, Mark. It was her first quilt ever but her color choice made it exquisite. We collaborated and decided it needed an 'under the sea' theme. I have it on the machine right now and I'm trying to put multiple surprises in the stitches. So far a treasure chest, string of pearls, mermaid, eel, silly fish, his name, and weird plants from my imagination et al. So guess I'll get back to that big machine sitting in the living room. I'll try to post pictures later.
